Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about preparing for your appointment, our policies, and loc maintenance.

What is interlocking?

Interlocking is a maintenance technique where the end of the loc is pulled through the root (new growth) to tighten it. It creates a 'woven' structure at the root, securing the loc without the need for twisting, gels, or waxes. It's excellent for keeping locs tight, especially for active lifestyles or those who wash their hair frequently.

How long does my hair need to be for starter locs?

For interlock starter locs, we recommend at least 2-3 inches of natural hair. For traditional coil or twist starter locs, 1-2 inches is usually sufficient depending on the hair texture. If you're unsure, feel free to book a consultation!

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Please arrive with your hair completely clean (washed within the last 24 hours), free of any products, oils, or heavy conditioners, and fully detangled/blow-dried if you are getting starter locs. If your hair is matted upon arrival, a detangling fee will apply.

How often should I get my locs retightened?

For interlocking, we typically recommend maintenance every 6-8 weeks, depending on your hair growth rate. Waiting too long can result in thinning roots or the locs marrying together, which may require a repair service.

Pricing Policy Notice

Please note that all listed prices are starting prices and may vary depending on hair length, thickness, and overall time required to complete the service. Each appointment is allocated a specific time slot. If the service exceeds the scheduled appointment time due to hair length, density, or any other factors, an additional charge of £25 per hour will apply for the extra time required to complete the service. We kindly ask clients to book appropriately and disclose accurate hair length and condition at the time of booking to avoid unexpected adjustments.
